| The decision to make Drew Brees the cover athlete for Madden NFL is an excellent one. Brees first came to national prominence in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, leading efforts to support the city of New Orleans and its inhabitants as the reconstruction began. He was named 2004 NFL Comeback Player of the Year, co-recipient of the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award in 2006 and Most Valuable Player in their 2009 season Super Bowl victory over the Indianapolis Colts. He has also been selected for the Pro Bowl several times. However, on the field accomplishments only tell half the story as Brees has been a role model and professional off the field as well. It's a great selection and tribute for Brees to be the cover of the Madden NFL 11 videogame. |
