First Madden 11 details + screenshots
IGN has lifted the lid on Madden NFL 11, for the first time revealing screenshots and brief details of what to expect from the game this year.

For Madden NFL 11, the team at EA Sports' Orland-based Tiburon studio is starting the massive roll-out of improvements, tweaks and new additions by giving us a look into the re-designed catching intelligence that you'll feel and see when you get your hands on your copy in August.

Looks like we can expect receivers to attempt to stay in bounds when catching close to the sidelines, but does it also includes receivers stretching to make a first down when close to the first down marker ?

EA Sports is hoping that a new creation called the Catch Debugging Tool will help them address these issues and more. The Catch Debugging Tool essentially allows developers to analyze and break down catch animations and the behaviors that lead to certain actions on the field.

EA has no problem with developing their own technologies to address issues or to enhance the gameplaying experience. Last year it was the Pro-Tak system.

It seems with all this newfound firepower for the offense, the defensive guys might have fallen by the wayside. Cummings assured us that wasn't the case, saying, "We never want to make it so the offense is too powerful, so we have really focused on giving the defenders the ability to go up and also knock the ball out in mid-air. We've added all new animations for mid-air collisions so defenders have an even better ability to get up with a receiver and fight for the ball. With recent changes, players will definitely play the ball more aggressively, but the elite guys are the ones who are going to be able to hang on to it."

Sounds good, but there are plenty of details still to come, some of which might be revealed when the first Madden NFL 11 blog is posted tomorrow.

Will we see major improvements in blocking ? Let's hope so...
