As excitement builds towards the start of the new F1 season this weekend, first details of the new game have arrived via a preview from Virtual Racing. The game is in development at famous racing videogame studio, Codemasters, who acquired the F1 license after it was dropped by Sony.
Furthermore, the article mentioned the title's dynamic weather system and other features such as the title's management-style features. Instead of just racing, the game's career mode will give players the ability to influence off-track parts of the career such as speaking to the media, their team and their team-mate with the choice of words affecting the outcome of the career and the relationship to the team. This adds a new and realistic element to the experience as a Formula One driver's career doesn't end with stepping out of the car. ... |

| 'Tiger 11' to feature Ryder Cup |
Two pieces of unexpected news come via ESPN Videogames article. First, the news that Tiger will be sharing the cover of this years game - who saw that coming ? Second is a new game mode which will be officially modelled on the Ryder Cup.
Obviously, it's a Ryder Cup year, and the Ryder Cup is a very unique event in golf as it brings in a team element to the sport," explains associate designer Travis Sailer. "We have Celtic Manor, the 2010 Ryder Cup course in the game this year, so you'll be able to play the Ryder Cup on that course in the game. But the thing about the Ryder Cup is, you're not just playing, you're the team captain in the game, so you're even selecting your roster and the pairings. ... |

Tiger Woods 11 blog via @Mac |
The first Tiger Woods 11 blog has been posted today. The article is full of details about some of the new features in the game and it's noticable that the developers are taking the approach of making the gamer actually play better as opposed to dumbing down the controls to make it more "accessible".
We're hard at work here on the development of Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 11, but I figured I would take a break from the action to fill you in on some of the gameplay improvements you can expect to see in this year's game. This feature list represent new features that we've implemented largely based on your feedback and comments. The list is LONG, so let's get started. ... |

| Joystiq goes hands-on with Backbreaker |
Joystiq has posted some hands-on impressions of Backbreaker. They seem to like the game but make a big deal (bigger than is probably necessary) of the fact that it doesn't have an NFL license.
It's not just the animation that makes Backbreaker look so sharp. The visual fidelity is impressive, unquestionably besting every other football game of this generation thus far. However, while the engine is able to render some spectacular lighting, and hi-poly character models, it has a very "clean" look, one that makes players look like plastic toys. While some may prefer a "gritty" look, I think the style gives Backbreaker a distinct aesthetic and looks even more impressive in motion. ... |

IGN recently posted a Q&A with the producer, Simon Humber, to chat about the upcoming FIFA World Cup videogame. In the interview Humber reveals details of several new features coming that we can expect when the game is released in late April.
We've integrated the Virtual Pro & Gameface from FIFA 10, so when you start your game you can choose to play as a real squad member, create a new player or import your Virtual Pro. For gamers who use a created player/Virtual Pro there are a total of 21 Objectives to go for as well as simply trying to win the mode. ... |

While we wait for the start of the Xbox 360 exclusive beta, scheduled for March 8, it's worth checking out some of the previews of this racing game published by Activision and developed by Bizarre Creations (famous for the successful Project Gotham Racing series). This preview comes from the folks at Team Xbox.
The staff here at TeamXbox has had a chance to grind on the beta for awhile now, working our way up to Level 10, which is unfortunately the rank cap currently in place for people playing on the beta. Leveling up has nothing to do with "kudos," thank goodness, but the replacement currency is now "fans." You earn fans by driving well, overtaking other cars, pulling off nice drifts and the like, but you can also earn fans through proper use of the power-ups. Of course, you probably won't earn any real-life fans on the track by effectively using the power-ups, since most are intended to screw up your competitors' games. Another preview has appeared at IGN. I'll post my own hands on impressions soon once the beta is up on Xbox Live... |
